Where and when do we rehearse?

We rehearse at Gumbramorra Hall, Addison Road Community Centre, Marrickville, from 6:30 to 8:30pm every second Tuesday. Reach out for our rehearsal schedule!

Everyone! We welcome adult musicians of all ages and backgrounds, from developing players returning to an instrument through to experienced musicians looking for a friendly community orchestra.

You don’t need to be an advanced player. The orchestra is designed to be accessible to developing musicians while still providing enjoyable and rewarding music for more experienced players.

What instruments are welcome?

We welcome orchestral strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. If you’re unsure whether there’s a place for your instrument, just get in touch.
Absolutely. We particularly welcome people who learned an instrument in the past and would love an opportunity to start playing again.
Who runs the orchestra?
Yes, you’ll need basic music-reading skills, but you certainly don’t need to be an expert.
A varied mix of enjoyable orchestral repertoire, including classical works, film music, popular favourites and music chosen specifically to suit and develop the orchestra.
No. Inner West Community Orchestra is primarily an adult community orchestra. It is designed to provide an accessible pathway for musicians who may not have a place in traditional auditioned orchestras. However we welcome all ages, and young people are warmly welcomed.
Come along! The whole idea is to create an encouraging environment where musicians can improve through playing alongside others. You don’t have to be perfect—you just need to enjoy making music.
Inner West Community Orchestra was founded by long-time friends and fellow musicians Heather Davies and cellist Karin Kapsi. Heather is an experienced conductor and community-music founder, and the orchestra has been created around a shared belief that ensemble music should be welcoming, accessible and enjoyable.
